EDITOR'S CHOICE & 92 POINTS - Wine Enthusiast

A blend of 60% Syrah, 20% Grenache & 20% Mourvèdre, this full-bodied red wine counterbalances Syrah's peppery, animated character with the rounded silkiness of Grenache and completes the taste with a well structured Mourvèdre. Pomegranate and blackberry flavors are crisply concentrated, but the palate feels creamy, long and ends supple. This wine already drinks well but should improve through 2024 and hold a few years further.

2018 Mega Focus

(64%, Grenache, 27% Mourvèdre, 9% Syrah) Aromas of baked plum and cherry mingle nicely and lead the way to earthy spice notes of sage. This Grenache-dominant blend is bright, tart and packed with cherry fruits, while Syrah and Mourvèdre muscle their way in with a darker expression of  black fruit flavors and firm tannins that pierce through the palate. The wine weaves into a smoky, mineral finish that keeps its audience begging for more. Even in its adolescence, our winemaking team thought it tasted wonderful, making it a young star at our tasting room!

2019 Repoussé

94 POINTS & DOUBLE GOLD - Orange County Wine Society

This 2019 Repoussé offers aromas of rosemary and eucalyptus accented with powerfully ripe blueberry and mulberry fruits. It’s an immensely concentrated wine focused with good structure, fine grain tannins and lovely red-brick color in the glass. A blend of 50% Mourvèdre, 37% Syrah and 13% Grenache, it is very tasty and fruit forward yet layered by lingering notes of cherry candies and peppered smoked spice on the finish. It’s a tenacious wine but gracefully integrated tannins frame the finish and leave you wanting more! Fresh green herb and basil leaf lend bracing freshness to tart raspberry flavors in this blend. I call it medium to full bodied and assuredly mouth filling but brightly balanced. The finish is clearly defined by freshness coupled with dry tannins and puckering acidity. It drinks beautifully already and it should hold through 2026.

2018 Sculpterra Figurine is our classic trademark blend of 46% Cabernet Sauvignon, 42% Primitivo, and 12% Merlot. It opens with aromas of raspberry pie crust, black pepper, licorice candy, lilac, baked earth and ends on toasted oak. The mirage of light red fruits provided by Primitivo and the wholesome integration of dark fruits delivered by Cabernet make this blend vibrant, expressive and all around charming. Plum, cherry soda aromas, mocha and black pepper bouquets dominate on the nose, while the mouthfeel is smoothly layered and integrated with new American oak barrels. These woody spice notes carry throughout the wine’s broad palate, decorating the savory black olive, charred meat and oregano spice taste. The wine’s overall fruity taste is offset and framed by dry and polished tannins. This wine is well worth cellaring for many years to come, but do yourself a favor and try some right now!

The mouthfeel is firmly wrapped in tannins, yet shows restrained black-pepper, herb and roasted fruit flavors and an enticing hint of smoke and grilled bouquets of oak. The 4 varieties, though individually crafted, come together seamlessly in this tasty blend.

2019 Statuesque

(36% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Syrah, & 32% Petite Sirah) Statuesque is Sculpterra's trademark full-bodied blend. Combining Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Petite Sirah; this blend is super unique in flavor, mouthfeel and finish. Darkly roasted taste of bacon, walnut, smoke and fire, then fruit flavors of blueberry and cherry are followed by bouquets of rose-petal and lavender. It's rich and dense on the palate, where dark berries and nutmeg converge atop a full finish that offers chalky and dusty tannins. Petite Sirah adds a pronounced violet perfume accent, Syrah and Cabernet add blackberry and black licorice flavors. Matured for 16 months in many new 500L Hungarian and American Oak barrels. This oak is certainly forward in this wine, offering plenty of toasted notes that demonstrate vanilla with dark chocolate taste. The tannins are firm and young, and you can give this wine plenty of time for best results. This wine should reach its best by the year 2026.

2017 Winemaker Signature II

2016’s Winemaker Signature was truly amazing and thus I decided to keep the blend with the same varieties; Syrah, Cabernet Franc and Petite Sirah. The biggest difference being the two years is that this new 2017 bottling is primarily Cabernet Franc, followed by Syrah and Petite Sirah. 2017 Cabernet Franc was truly the standout from all my wines produced during the harvest. It’s the ripest Cabernet Franc I have ever produced! It demonstrates immense levels of tannins, adding to the structure and durability of the wine. I added Syrah because it too displayed amazing ripe flavors of plum and strawberry with the darkest color imaginable. Petite Sirah rounds out the finish and was taken from a new American Oak barrel, adding huge notes of sweet caramel candies, smoked wood and a lingering taste of chocolate cherries. Overall I feel this that the wine’s pallet is dominated by ripe dark fruit aromas and accented by woody bouquets. The structure is amazing with puckering acidity making it a candidate for long-term aging. It’s leans dark and tannic, ending with a plethora of fruity taste. It’s heavy bodied and this wine is intended to age for 15 or more years!

2018 Winemaker Signature III

92 POINTS - Wine Enthusiast

This wine was created to be the heaviest, boldest, and richest bend imaginable! I selected the “best of the best” barrel lots from 2018’s incredible vintage. Cabernet Franc leads the charge with its dark-berry fruits, dusty tannins, and dense structure. Syrah adds the Hungarian oak taste of pencil wood, smoke and cedar. Followed by aromas of chocolate covered plums and lavender. Petite Sirah aged in 100% New American Oak, enhances the wine’s flavors with unbelievable notes of pink peppercorn, barbecued meats, and a coffee-like finish. The bouquets are extensive and juicy, its elegant structure expresses cherry, blackberry, ground pepper and even a mineral note framed in firm fine-grained tannins. A plethora of toasted hazelnut, vanilla and roasted almonds mark the finish. The three varieties blend perfectly together and make for a delicious package.

2019 Winemaker Signature IV

I’m proud to bring our fourth rendition of the coveted Winemaker Signature bottle and this time it’s waxed in Cobalt Fire Blue, an amazing look for a once in a lifetime wine. We etched, labeled and bottled the most challenging wine bottle in the world! This special bottle is made in Italy and called, “Due Fondos.” The bottle was the winner of Bruni Glass’s annual bottle competition! I call it “The Winemaker Signature” and I plan on hand bottling a limited number of bottles each year.

This 2019 vintage marks our biggest bottling yet at a total of 200 750ml bottles. We are limiting purchases to 2 bottles per customer. This bottle was the most challenging bottle I have ever worked with due to its unique shape and design. The etching shows off John Jagger’s Original sculpture entitled “Eternal Flame.” Don Landy, a local wine bottle etcher, spent 45 minutes per bottle to mask, sand blast and paint each bottle. Then we filled each bottle with the blend, corked, waxed, and sticker labeled the bottom of each bottle. My last touch was to sign and number each one. Theses bottles are only available at the tasting room.
