Sparkling Wine

Sculpterra Winery is proud to introduce our first ever sparkling wine! What a lovely wine it is; concentrated with bouquets of toasted hazelnut, even bread crust and a hint of classic stone fruits. The fruit comes from the coastal regions of Central California and consist of 100% French Colombard. The fruit is grown for sparkling wine production and the grapes are picked at precisely the right time with proper sugar and acid balance in the berries.

2018 Sauvignon Blanc

It has a garden-fresh quality that is very vibrant from start to finish. Overall, it’s light-bodied and well balanced with classic aromas of key-lime, tart-apple and honeydew. The mouthfeel guarantees green apples and fresh chopped herbs, while citrus flavors move into juicy tangy pear and grapefruit on the palate.

2018 Chardonnay

This Chardonnay has true classic varietal expression; rich aromas of sandalwood, orange-peel, and even French toast. I also get a hint of vanilla and nutmeg coupled with puckering and lingering acidity. There is great cohesion of floral nuance and spice, alongside a bright lemony splash that ends with flavors of white peach and almond.

2017 Viognier

Our 2017 Viognier is truly superb, highlighting fruity aromas with a slight mineral edge. The ripe flavors continually show white peach, pear, cantaloupe and even honeysuckle on the nose. While the palate focuses on firm acidity and the best lingering finish imaginable. Elements of fresh sliced honeydew, savory nectarine and subtle spice delicately mingle with notes of pressed yellow apple and ripe pear in this fully textured white wine. Its gentle yet upfront fruit flavors drink tastefully now but should develop greater concentration of earth and mineral with age. Drink upon release but don’t forget to age a few bottles for a delightful treat in years to come.

2018 Paso Pink Rosé

Sculpterra’s Paso Pink is a Rosé lover's dream come true! The wine’s beautiful color lures you in for a taste and it certainly makes good on the temptation. It shows tremendous fruit, wonderful acid and an incredible finish. Bright focused tropical fruit drives the texture and crisp flavors of this wine. What follows is a celebration of guava, orange, and strawberry with a touch of subdued earth and spice too. 2017 Pinot Noir

This wine opens with a voluptuous nose of black cherry, crushed cranberry and hints of black tea. The taste is rich and expansive, with complex earthiness that highlights a fruit profile abounding in spice and culminating with very lively acidity. It’s easy to discover notes of plump red cherry, gingerbread and even strawberry that all show really nicely for this Estate grown Pinot Noir. The palate is extremely structural even though it is lighter weight in mouthfeel. It ends with subtle yet apparent tannins carrying its snappy red-fruit flavors, with dried tea leaves and brown spices. Drink now through 2025 for best taste.

2016 Grenache

Sculpterra’s 2016 Grenache is complex with sparkling fruit and layered textures throughout the palate. Packed with tastes of raspberry and boysenberry fruit, along with floral notes of purple flowers, vanilla, clove, cream and Christmas spice fragrant on the nose. Aged in used French barrels, mostly 500L size, this wine shows touches of toast and cedar alongside tart, fruit notes with tropical punch qualities. It's medium-bodied and lightly tannic, with crisp acid that lingers to the finish.

2016 Syrah

2017 Mourvèdre

Sculpterra’s 2017 vintage Mourvèdre is young at heart, with cheerful black cherry and berry flavors abounding in this decadent blend of mostly Mourvèdre with a touch of Petite Sirah. Lavender aromas dance with notes of smoke and tobacco while subtle hints of aged oak linger on the finish. It is indeed an age-worthy wine and it will change considerable (all for the better) with proper cellaring. Give it at least 6 years bottle age and it will develop a soft finish with upfront tannins being transformed into a smooth and long-lasting finish.

2018 Primitivo

Elaborate smoke and cinnamon spice bouquets give this full-bodied wine a dramatic start. Next the aromas of black cherry and blackberry join in on the nose. It has moderate tannins for good command, but is not an overly tannic wine. Mostly the tannins come from Cabernet Franc and Petite Sirah giving the mouthfeel a certain expressive lift and poise. Flavors of blackberry and cherry are concentrated and focused while its acidity brings everything together in this big but balanced wine. Candied cherries and black plums give it a delicious classic profile, while hints of black pepper linger on the finish. The oaky play on this wine gives a perfect sense of vivid flavors and taste. This is no doubt a complex wine and it will continue to improve with cellar aging.

2016 Merlot

Our 100% estate grown Merlot is soft, supple and dusty, displaying subtle hints of plum, cedar and vanilla. It expresses a nice complexity on the mid-palate too with textured full-bodied ripeness. The tannins are immediate yet polished, let it age for best tasting, drink now through 2025. Overall, I’d call it a crowd-pleasing wine, intense and structured, has allusions of floral components, while still being rich and round ending with freshness on the finish.

Subdued but also daring at times, this 100% Cabernet Sauvignon opens with appealing aromas of dark-chocolate, herbs, plum and berry. Raspberry, cherry and even citrus peel run long on the finish. 2016 Bentley Ironworks Cabernet Sauvignon

This remarkable wine will only get better with age and proper aeration. It’s tailored around classic Cabernet Sauvignon aromas of strong oaky bouquets and layered with complex herbal spice on its finish. It's dazzling and perfumed, welcoming and hugely structured, with a loud complex mid-palate of intriguing plum and pepper. It even shows elements of being gentle and balanced with subtle oak infused tannins. Clove, red currant and cedar shavings wrap around the pallet while weight and power prolong the finish. Dusty aged tannins and pepper reveal themselves on the lengthy finish, helping to make this wine a strong candidate for prolonged cellar time. 2016 Figurine

Figurine is the best of both worlds; fruity with pleasant attraction, then rich with bold dark fruit flavors and an oaky finish. The estate blend hits hard in spicy raspberry, cherry and even cinnamon, adding in a touch of mint. Robust oak and a ripe body give it power and weight. Fresh and broad aromas of strawberry and red currant meet crushed oregano. I’d say it’s medium to full bodied on the palate, with the best bright red plums, crushed pepper and a good helping of herb flavors. It’s ready to drink upon release but will age for years to come.

2016 Maquette

(60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19% Cabernet Franc, 19% Merlot, & 2% Petit Verdot) Exceptionally tasty fruit flavors and a broad welcoming mouthfeel make this full-bodied estate-grown wine hard to resist. It has classic Bordeaux essences, like blackberry and black cherry and a whole lot of tannin with spicy tones that come out with proper aeration. The juicy palate delivers licorice, bing-cherry and a touch of tangerine zest. The four varieties come together effortlessly and are well integrated, with fresh focused acidity. Black currant, cherry and dark chocolate play along across the palate, dusted in cocoa powder and smoked oak. Enjoyable to taste right now but with out a doubt a cellar worthy wine. 2017 Statuesque

(39% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Petite Sirah & 29% Syrah) This wine expresses lots of oaky taste, yet remains focused on its red-fruit backbone and ends with restrained tannins that finish soft in the mouth. Black plum, dark chocolate, spice cake and even mineral aromas show on the nose of this blend. It's rich and thick on the palate, with strong black-currant and licorice flavors that are prominently expressed with power and grace. I get a smattering of candied boysenberry, white pepper and hints of thyme-crusted pot roast aromas. Very complex wood notes are woven throughout the wine’s long finish. Overall this wine is very expressive and floral, with flavors of violet, rose petal and black-plum skins.

2016 Petite Sirah

Our 100% estate grown Petite Sirah is a super inky purple wine that is dominated with a bouquet of blackberry and plum. Its tannic core takes a back seat to strong flavors of raspberry, licorice, orange zest, and even floral notes of lavender. The tannins are strong and pleasantly coat the gums through the dark chocolate-laced finish. Overall this wine brings deep and dark aromas of black currant, smoke from the oak barrels and end on a note of coffee-caramel candies. It is sure to please crowds seeking a mouth-filling wine. I’d pair it with a Portobello mushroom entrée or even a juicy steak with chipotle spices.
